How it works

  1. 1

    Drop in your video

A vertical MP4, MOV or WebM, or a PNG of a frame. It opens right away, because it isn’t uploaded anywhere

  2. 2

    See it as on Shorts

Your Short plays under YouTube’s search bar, buttons, channel and title, with the covered parts shaded. Switch to TikTok or Reels to check them too

  3. 3

Fix it, or take the template

Download the Shorts template for your editor, or save the frame with the zones marked to send to whoever edits

Questions people ask

On a 1080 × 1920 Short, only the top right corner has buttons (search and menu), the like, dislike, comment, share and remix column takes about 180 px on the right from 920 px down, and the channel, Subscribe and title the bottom 350 px. Google’s safe zone for ads is a box: 288 px at the top, 672 px at the bottom, 48 px left and 192 px right.
Its buttons run up most of the right side, not just the lower half, so captions centred on the frame can end up under them. Keep text a little left of centre.
No. Your browser opens it right on your computer and draws the zones over it, so nothing is sent anywhere. It works for unreleased videos and client work too.
Download the PNG, put it on the top track over your video in CapCut, Premiere Pro, Final Cut or DaVinci Resolve, and keep your text inside the dashed line. Hide or delete it before you export.
A thin line along the very bottom, under the channel and title, so nothing else.
The shaded parts follow where each app puts its interface on an ordinary post: the tabs, the column of buttons and the caption, so the safe zone flows around them rather than being one box. Next to each app you also get its own numbers for ads (TikTok’s safe zone file, Meta’s guide for Reels and Stories, Google’s for Shorts, Snapchat’s ad specs), which ask for more room because ads add a label and a button.
Yes. No account, no watermark on the templates, and no limit on how many videos you check.
